The Rainbow Mountain of Peru, also known as Winicunca, is stunning and can be seen on the spectacular Ausangate area. This trip that allows you to see the Rainbow Mountains requires a trek of at least 6 days (3 hours each way up and down the mountain) .

On this trek you will see quaint villages, beautiful adobe style houses, herds of llamas and alpacas and you will have magnificent views of the Ausangate Mountain (6,385 m / 20,945 ft.), the highest mountain in Cusco region.

Itinerary:

We will pick you up in your hotel around 03:00 hrs. – 03:15 hrs. Then we will travel 03 hours on bus to Japura. Where you will have a delicious breakjast, after we continue to La Playa, this is the trail head where we start the hiking, first we walk 3 hours uphill where you will find a beautiful landscape, big mountain and local people with their typical clothes making their daily life, you will find big groups of Alpacas, LLamas and sometimes wild Vicuñas, also small lagoons created by the thaws of the glaciers, once you arrive to the summit (5030 mts).

You will have a free time to rest and to take your pictures, then we start to go back by a different way, the "Red Valley", we call it like that for the red color of the mountain soil, they look pretty nice, this will be other three hours walk downhill to arrive again in Japura.

Where you will have a confortable lunch, then we will bring you back to Cusco again (Arrival around 6:00 or 7:00 p.m.

Note: During the ascent we will have a backup horse in case of an emergency.
